Trex Railing Lines

Trex currently offers several distinct railing “lines” (collections) designed to meet a variety of aesthetic preferences, budgets, and functional needs.

The main railing lines from Trex are:

  • Trex Signature Railing — the brand’s top-tier, most customizable railing system.
  • Trex Transcend Railing — designed to pair with Trex’s higher-end decking; combines composite with optional aluminum for railings and balusters.
  • Trex Select Railing — Trex’s more budget-friendly, simpler railing system.
  • Specialty railing systems from Trex such as cable and frameless glass railings under the Signature / X-Series line — targeting more modern/minimalist design preferences.
  • Trex Enhance Steel Railing — designed to offer functional, economical railing with a classic profile. A simpler, affordability-focused steel railing line:

Trex railings offerings span from entry-level (“Select”) through mid-range (“Transcend”) to premium/customizable (“Signature” + X-Series/Enhance), giving buyers a wide range of options depending on budget, style, and design flexibility.

Styles, Infill Options & Customization Features of Trex Railings

Infill / Baluster / Panel Options

One of the big strengths of Trex — especially for the Signature line — is the variety of “infill” or railing-infill/baluster styles. This allows you to customize the look and feel of your railing far beyond a one-size-fits-all.

For example, with Trex Signature Railings you can choose among:

  • Traditional vertical aluminum balusters (square or round)
  • Horizontal rods (rod-rail) for a sleek, contemporary look.
  • Industrial-style mesh panels / mesh infill — for a more modern/industrial aesthetic.
  • Glass panels (glass infill / glass rail kit) — to provide an unobstructed view.

This flexibility lets you really tailor the railing to suit your deck’s look, surroundings, and how you want to use the space (e.g. open views, modern design, safety, etc.).

Customizable Posts, Rails, Colors & Add-Ons

Especially with Signature, Trex lets you mix and match components: you can choose composite post sleeves (with caps and skirts) or aluminum posts; then pick rails, balusters/infill kits, and optional extras like “cocktail rails” (a wider top rail that doubles as a ledge), curved railings, and even ADA-compliant options.

Thus Trex doesn’t force a fixed, boxed-in design — you get modularity and design flexibility, which is part of why many people use it for custom decks.

Transcend also provides a multi-step process (choose post sleeves → rails/balusters/infill → optional accessories) which lets you build railing tailored to your deck.

Select, by contrast, offers more simplified combinations and a straightforward solution for simpler deck builds.

Available Colors for Each Railing Line

Color options vary depending on the railing line and whether you’re dealing with aluminum, composite, or mixed-material components.

Trex Signature Railings

Trex Signature Railing comes in “a variety of colors and configurations.

Common colors offered include: Charcoal Black, Bronze, Classic White.

Because you can mix-and-match posts, rails, and infills — and choose among infill types (mesh, glass, rod, balusters) — the number of possible color/style combinations is significantly larger than just the number of base colors.

There are multiple “color combinations” depending on rail and infill choices (for example, rail color + infill color combinations) for mesh or glass infill options.

Trex Transcend Railings

Transcend Railing offers a broader palette (compared to Select) when it comes to composite rails and posts.

Composite-rail colors include: Classic White, Charcoal Black, Gravel Path, Rope Swing, Tree House, Vintage Lantern.
Aluminum-rail options (in case you pick aluminum infill/rails for Transcend) can include Classic White, Bronze, and Charcoal Black

From traditional white railings to darker, contemporary or natural-toned finishes. Because of the mixed materials, there’s flexibility in matching or contrasting with decking, trim, or landscaping.

Trex Select Railings

Select is more limited in terms of color and configuration — part of what keeps it affordable and simple. Typical colors: Classic White (composite rails/posts), sometimes with Charcoal Black aluminum balusters or mesh infill.

But even here, there are at least a couple of options: composite white rails + black balusters, or mesh infill options — giving some minimal flexibility beyond “one look fits all.”
